These first two images are from my back yard raku experiments this summer.
Last Friday Sept 30 was loading day at Watershed. The workshop was led by Tara Wilson a visiting studio potter who lives in Montana. Check out her work here...tarawilsonpottery.com.
The sun held out making for a nice relaxed day.
John Read's Ictheous creations...
Some of Tara's pieces ready to load.
Some of my little cups with a couple of Kris Jorgensen's pieces.
Johns fish wadded to Margaret's bottles.
Tara loaded the kiln very thoughtfully and made a tall first shelf stack to encourage the flame to run equally top and bottom of the kiln where otherwise it would tend more to follow the ceiling of the kiln.
So we lit the thing up and fired it for about 45 hours before clamping it up and leaving it to cool Sunday afternoon. I will try to get some more photos of the participants soon.
John's primordial fish as if born out of the ashes.
One of Tara's Pieces. Just amazing!
One of my cups stuck to one of Kris's.
Gorgeous bottle...Angela Rose.
Little cups, short tumblers and pitchers and the lidded jars are my work. more on that later.
Summed up to a pretty successful woodfire. Back to work!
